Histoire
Story of Digne-les-Bains and Napoléon
From Barrême to Digne-les-Bains, the road is tortuous. On the Saturday March 4, early in the morning, the Emperor left Barrême. He decided to come to Digne-les-Bains through the alpine peaks. He arrived in La Clape thanks to the mountain pass of Chaudon (1989m) which is nothing except a goat trail...
According to the legend, an innkeeper asked him 20 francs for two boiled eggs:
“- Eggs are very scarce in the region?
- Eggs do not, but Emperors do.”
